Conventional underwater tethers tend to sink, creating drag, snagging risks, and entanglement hazards on the seabed. By contrast, this cable is engineered to remain neutrally buoyant - suspended effortlessly in the water column without sinking or floating. The secret lies in its dual‑layer jacket construction: a tough, water‑tight inner TPU layer that protects the conductors and insulation, and a specially foamed outer TPU layer that fine‑tunes the cable's overall density to match that of seawater. This eliminates hydrodynamic lift or drag on the vehicle, dramatically improving maneuverability, station‑keeping accuracy, and operational range - especially in currents or deep‑water deployments. Reduced tether tension and cable fatigue extend both the cable's service life and the underwater vehicle's effective mission time.

Key Construction & Features:

Bare copper conductors – High conductivity, excellent flexibility, low power/signal loss over long tether lengths.

Power cores: 2×17AWG – Robust power delivery for ROV thrusters, lights, and subsea tools.

Auxiliary core: 22AWG – Additional power return, grounding, or secondary control signal.

Shielded twisted pair (STP) data section: 2×2×24AWG (two individually shielded twisted pairs) – Provides noise‑immune data transmission for RS‑485, CAN bus, 100M Ethernet, or video signals. The STP construction with drain wire ensures excellent EMI/RFI rejection even when bundled with high‑current power lines.

Insulation: Polyethylene (PE) – Extremely low water absorption, high dielectric strength, stable electrical performance under prolonged immersion.

Double‑layer TPU sheath (Key advantage):

Inner layer (solid TPU) – Provides water‑tight integrity, mechanical strength, and protects against crushing and abrasion.

Outer layer (foamed TPU) – Precisely adjusts cable density for neutral buoyancy; adds additional wear, seawater, oil, and microbial resistance; keeps the cable flexible even in cold deep‑water environments.

This dual‑layer design eliminates the need for external flotation collars or complex tether management systems, while offering superior cut, tear, and long‑term fatigue resistance compared to single‑layer buoyant cables.

Ideal for:

Observation‑class ROVs, mini‑ROVs, and underwater drones requiring zero‑drag tether with heavy power and shielded data

AUVs and marine robotics for subsea inspection, mapping, and surveillance

Underwater camera systems and live video streaming (supports low‑latency data links)

Subsea sensor arrays, data acquisition systems, and oceanographic monitoring stations

Sonar systems and towed arrays requiring precise depth alignment and vibration damping

Shallow‑water monitoring, aquarium systems, and swimming pool cleaning robots

Military and defense applications (mine detection, naval surveillance, harbor security)

Marine research and exploration equipment, hydrographic survey systems

This cable meets all demanding requirements for reliable power distribution (via 17AWG and 22AWG cores), noise‑immune data transmission (via STP 24AWG pairs), real‑time video, sensor telemetry, and control signals. The double‑layer TPU sheath not only provides neutral buoyancy without extra flotation but also significantly enhances durability in harsh, long‑duration missions - reducing drag, preventing snagging, and ensuring smooth deployment and retrieval from winch systems.
